AKP NEWSLETTER EDITION 1.1
Can you believe we are in the year twenty.twenty.six?
I truly can’t. How did that happen? If you’re new here, welcome! I am genuinely honored we’ve found each other!
While I’m not necessarily one to make any resolutions, I feel it in my heart to do things a little differently and finally commit to quarterly newsletters. I’m striving for a way to stay connected in ways other than Instagram, which is changing so quickly. Quarterly email communications with my people has been on my business TeuxDeux list since… I started working in the photography industry in 2006 (crazy to type that out loud!) so it’s been a long time coming! Although I also know that all of our inboxes are overloaded with junk emails, this likely will also be in the form of blog posts (if you’re reading this, welcome to my Journal!) instead of just an email.
Here’s what I have stirring in my brain and what you can expect from this little newsletter of mine. Every edition will strive to include…
🎞️ Any wedding or portrait photography banter including events or relevant photography trends.
🎞️ A collection of recent images that are favorites of mine.
🎞️ A featured blog post. Maybe two.
🎞️ A favorite throw back image; because I love deep diving into my archive and re-discovering all the amazing couples I’ve been able to photograph.
🎞️ A life or personal update to share!

• Mini sessions will be back (fingers crossed!)! I get a lot of Mini Session inquiries on a one-off basis and I would love to have Mini’s be a bi-annual event so everyone can have their portraits updated during their most loved season! Yes, the fall is the most popular time to do family sessions but dang, those holiday and family schedules often make scheduling a whirlwind. Plus, I always prefer photographing portraits in the spring. Hello, Seattle color, amiright? Additionally, I want to know where you’d love to see a mini session marathon event happen. What’s your favorite park or location? I have my favorites, but I want to know yours!
• I want to know what your favorite image is that I’ve captured for you and why. If I photographed your wedding, what image do you cherish the most? If I photographed your family, what image tugged at your heart strings? I am motivated to connect on a deeper level about what photography means to you as an individual. Keep reading to find a link for a quick survey to share your thoughts on this as well as mini session locations!
• My Print Shop went live a few years back and I’m excited to add some fresh imagery to the mix. As I put pins on my travel map, it only seems fitting that I share my most cherished travel images so they can live on walls. These will be fine art-focused prints and they’ll be available as individual prints or in sets of three meant to shine.
• Some of you may or may not know that I also do Commercial Product Styling and I’ve had the opportunity to create some lovely work that I’m excited to share once they go live on the internet but here are a few from the last few months…

• Ok, this is not photography related, but…it’s no doubt that we are all feeling the added and explosive stress of our world right now. These are times that feel like we read tragic news almost every single day. I want to express that I am a safe place and I strive for equity, inclusion, and authenticity. Historically, I have kept my business platform primarily focused around the obvious- photography, weddings and my love for what I’m so thankful to be able to do. But I do acknowledge that silence in our political climate can be misconstrued as complacency. I want my clients, colleagues and followers to know that I vow to use my voice for the greater good of our community, humanity, integrity and respect for all. Violence, racism, facism and harassment has zero place in my business and heart. While I know I’m not the most vocal on Instagram in the political arena (because I often I feel that sharing a story on Instagram that expires in 24 hours is just screaming into the void and is more self-serving than actually helpful), I believe that writing our senators is the most important thing for me and everyone to practice when it comes to fighting this administration and their tragically unethical practices. We are all in this together and believe we can come out on the other side in a better place. 💘

• My close circle knows that running and dogs are two things that I’m literally obsessed with. They both keep me sane. Meet Toby Flenderson Hendrix Kiel. Ain’t he handsome? And I am so proud to have completed two marathons in the last few years, most recently the Seattle Marathon in November of 2025. I kicked ass and ran it in 3:53 and I’m really proud of it. It gave me a new level of confidence that I can do hard things when I set my mind to it; something that I think I lost sight of in years past. Running has helped me wake my sleeping self and I’m thankful for it. Cheering each other on no matter how big or small your goal is brings me so much joy. I’m also an Orca Running Ambassador (that’s my photo on the homepage!) and if you sign up for any of their races this year, you can get 10% with my ambassador code AMBAMY26. Let’s run together.
To conclude Edition 1.1, I don’t think it’s cliche to look inward this time of year. It’s in us to reflect on who we want to be, who we’re meant to be and what we’re meant to achieve together. Creating beautiful imagery and a beautiful world isn’t a solo achievement. It’s done together. So if you’re still here, I’d love for you to fill out this short and sweet survey about the topics mentioned earlier. If you do, then you’ll be entered to win a little giveaway in the future.
